A white bandana may signify gang membership or the affinity for a specific sexual perversion in popular culture. Bandana colours have long been used to indicate gang membership, although most people are less familiar with the so-called hanky code.
Numerous gangs may be connected to the wearing of a white bandana. The linkage is still not as strong or well-known as the one between the Bloods and Crips gangs and red and blue bandanas, respectively.
Examples of gangs associated with white bandanas as well as other colours include Black Gangster Disciples, Party People, and Brothers of Struggle. The hanky (or handkerchief) code, used particularly in fetish and LGBT societies, aids in locating people who have similar sexual preferences. Bandanas in the back pockets of your pants, either white or colourful, are a good indicator.
