Adidas does not appear in Greek mythology; the name derives from the founder of the company, Adolf Dassler. It is composed of his nickname “Adi” and the initial three letters of his surname, “Das.” Adidas was formed in 1949 on August 18th.
Adi Dassler founded his first sports enterprise in Bavaria, Germany, in 1924. In Herzogenaurach, he registered Adi Dassler adidas Sportschuhfabrik, a business with 47 workers, 25 years later. Along with his business, he entered for a 3-stripe design show. This design will eventually become a trademark of the Adidas company. The Dassler family continued with Adidas until Horst Dassler’s death in 1987.
