Who Invented the First Knife?

Homo sapiens invented the first knives in prehistoric periods and utilised them as weapons, tools, and eating implements. The Oldowon was used up to 2.5 million years ago and, as of 2014, is the oldest known knife-like implement.

Initially, knives were fashioned from flint, rock, bone, and obsidian. As of 2014, most contemporary knives are constructed from ceramic, iron, steel, titanium, bronze, and copper, and their blades are typically either folding or fixed. Fixed-blade knives are sheathable, stronger, and devoid of moving parts. Folding knives have a pivot that connects the blade to the handle and a locking mechanism to prevent harm or unintentional opening.
