What Nation Makes Jordan Shoes?

Nike predominantly produces Air Jordan shoes in China. The Pou Chen Group, a Taiwanese business that is Nike’s main supplier in China, owns the Yue Yuen factory in Dongguan, China, one of the main production sites for Air Jordans as of 2014.

A licencing agreement between Nike and former NBA great Michael Jordan led to the creation of Air Jordans. Jordan was contacted by Nike around the time he was selected by the Bulls and was presented with a five-year partnership agreement.

Jordan made the new shoes official during his rookie season in 1984 while donning a red and black pair that didn’t adhere to NBA footwear standards at the time. Nike paid the $5,000 fines Jordan incurred for each game he wore the prohibited shoes as part of a publicity ploy.
