What Kinds of Animals Can You Find in the Atlantic Ocean?

Manatees, sea lions, humpback whales, Atlantic ghost crabs, starfish, catfish, green sea turtles, grey Atlantic seals, penguins, shrimp, redfish, flounders, sea trout, and tarpon are just a few of the animals that dwell in the Atlantic Ocean. The Atlantic Ocean is also home to a diverse range of plants, including living coral reefs teeming with sand dollars and sea stars, as well as seagrass, algae, and seaweed.

The Atlantic Ocean is made up of saltwater and is relatively warm compared to other oceans, making it perfect for a wide range of animal species. Because the Atlantic Ocean is the world’s second-largest ocean, encompassing over 20% of the Earth’s surface, it can host a diverse range of creatures as a home.

Whales, dolphins, and seals, for example, migrate to and from the Atlantic Ocean every year. During the summer, many species migrate to cooler waters in search of abundant feeding grounds and to build up their fat reserves for the coming winter. During the winter months, they migrate from the colder Polar regions to the warmer Atlantic Ocean to mate and raise their young.
