The height and width of a normal hay bale are 14 inches by 18 inches. However, depending on the settings of the baler mechanism, the length can be either 36 or 48 inches.
The 36-inch-long bale is tied with two strings and weighs approximately 45 pounds, while the 48-inch-long bale is tied with three strings and weighs approximately 60 pounds. The smallest size of large round bales is four feet wide by four feet in diameter. The largest balers produce bales that are approximately 8 feet broad and 6 feet in diameter. The weights of round bales range from 500 to 2,500 pounds.
