According to the Northern Arizona University, a tetherball pole is normally 10 feet tall. Depending on the height of the participants, the pole may be as short as 7 feet. The rope is long enough to suspend the ball approximately 2 feet above the ground.
Typically, the tetherball pole is sunk in the ground or fixed in a tyre filled with concrete to ensure its stability during the game. The game is played on a 20-foot-diameter circular playing court.
Tetherball is a two-player sport played in North America in which participants seek to wrap the rope around the pole by hitting the ball in a strategic manner and defend their opponents’ attempts to do the same.
