Human Rights Campaign, or HRC, is represented by a blue bumper sticker with two yellow stripes. It promotes equality within the lesbian, gay, transgender, and bisexual communities. Today, the logo may be found on bumper stickers, Facebook walls, t-shirts, and business cards, among other items. It is a method of bringing attention to the HRC’s battle for human rights.
The Human Rights Campaign Fund adopted the blue and yellow equality emblem in 1995. It was part of a new phase for HRFC, one in which the organisation tried to achieve mainstream LGBT activism. The Human Rights Campaign, as it is called today, is the nation’s largest LGBT advocacy organisation. This success is due in part to the widespread use of the blue and yellow emblem on social media sites, automobiles, and clothes not only in the United States but also in Canada.
There is a great deal of symbolism embedded in the HRC’s logo for equality. The equals sign represents the actual equality that the movement seeks for all human beings, regardless of gender, race, or other factors. The colours were chosen because of their boldness and strength, much like the strength of the HRC’s members and supporters.
