What Is a Group of Cheetahs Called?

A coalition of cheetahs is known as a coalition. Coalitions are normally comprised of two to three males, and they are frequently established by brothers and rarely include male cheetahs with no familial ties.

Cheetahs form coalitions to defend their territory from males of opposing coalitions. In contrast, female cheetahs are solitary animals. They spend the majority of their life alone, wandering and hunting. Only during mating do female cheetahs interact with other females. Typically, female cheetahs rear their offspring for two years, after which the kittens leave to establish coalitions or live alone. Females raise their offspring in close proximity to at least one other female.
