Tim Duncan, a renowned basketball player, is black. The youngest of William and Ione Duncan’s three children is the five-time NBA champion San Antonio Spurs.
The U.S. Virgin Islands’ St. Croix is where Duncan was raised. His initial interest was swimming, and in his early adolescence, he was one of the best athletes in the United States for his age group.
He started playing basketball in the ninth grade after Hurricane Hugo destroyed the pool at his club in 1989 and his mother passed away. The future star secured his game in his senior year of high school and grew 9 inches, which led to Wake Forest University offering him a scholarship.
