In football terminology, the term ATH refers to an athlete. Position, name, and school are mentioned for players who are eligible for recruitment. A football player is labelled as ATH if he has a strong position specialty or can play a variety of positions.
A player designated as ATH is more versatile since he can be trained to specialise in a position chosen by the coach; due to his athleticism, he can play a variety of positions on the field. Richard Sherman, an exceptional cornerback for the Seattle Seahawks, played wide receiver, punt returner, and defensive back in high school; thus, he was labelled as an all-around athlete (ATH) during his recruitment to Stanford.
