For LP records, vinyl record album covers are typically 12 inches by 12 inches. Due to the smaller format, singles frequently have covers that are 7 inches in diameter. In the past, 78 rpm records were frequently offered with 10 inch covers, but this is no longer the case.
The amount of music that can be recorded on a vinyl record depends on the record’s size. The format can now hold about 30 minutes of audio per side, whereas 12-inch records used to only hold about six minutes of recordings. Audiophiles favour 180- to 220-gram vinyl because it has a greater sound quality due to its density.
