Brown beer bottles let in the least amount of light compared to clear or green bottles. When a particular amount of ultraviolet light interacts with specific molecules in beer, it causes the beer to become spoiled and smell and taste unpleasant. This is why beer bottles are sometimes packed in cardboard containers that block light.
