Avis Budget Group’s parent business, PV Holding Corporation, is a well-known vehicle rental firm. Its global headquarters are in Parsippany, New Jersey, at 6 Sylvan Way. Zipcar, a car-sharing network, is also run by the company.
Warren Avis launched the company in 1946, and it grew swiftly thanks to its then-unique approach of renting automobiles from airport facilities. It grew so quickly that it was the second largest car rental firm in the United States by 1953. The company then expanded into other countries. It has operations in neighbouring Canada and Mexico by 1956. The company’s distinctive phrase, “We try harder,” was developed in 1963, under the tenure of Robert Townsend. In 2012, this was modified to “It’s your space.” Wizard, the company’s proprietary reservations system, was established in 1973. More than 5,000 sites throughout the world are served by the corporation, its subsidiaries, and franchisees.
Morris Mirkin, on the other hand, launched Budget in 1958. It operated on a low-cost model, undercutting its competitors, in keeping with its moniker. The company went public for the first time in 1987. It was bought and sold by a number of different corporations before being acquired by Avis in 2006. More than 800 locations in the United States are used by the corporation and its licensees.
