Patrick Jane, a character on the television show “The Mentalist,” drives a Citroen DS from the early 1970s. This vehicle was produced in France from 1955 to 1975 and sold in the United States from 1956 to 1972.
The Citroen DS was the first mass-produced vehicle to utilise Paul Magès’ hydropneumatic self-leveling suspension. The driver can also raise or lower the chassis by pressing a button on the dashboard.
Patrick Jane, played by actor Simon Baker, works as a consultant for the California Bureau of Investigation’s crime-fighting unit in the television drama. He has great powers of observation and deduction, as well as knowledge of social engineering, which he employs to assist in the investigation of crimes.
