Susan Rice, who President Barack Obama selected as National Security Advisor in 2013, is unrelated to Condoleezza Rice. Both ladies attended Stanford University and have served as U.S. government officials.
Susan Rice is a Rhodes Scholar with a Bachelor of Arts in History from Stanford University and a Master’s and Doctorate in International Relations from Oxford. Beginning in 1997, she served as Assistant Secretary of State under President Bill Clinton; in 2009, she became the first African-American woman to be appointed United Nations Ambassador to the United States. In September 2014, Chinese Central Television misidentified Susan Rice as Condoleezza Rice when reporting on her visit to China.
