Is Charles Buck Thurman Still in Prison?

1991 marked Charles “Buck” Thurman’s release from jail. Thurman served seven years in prison for abusing his wife, Tracey Thurman. Tracey Thurman successfully sued the city of Torrington for failing to protect her, and was granted $2.3 million.

The passage of a statute was prompted by Thurman’s lawsuit. The Thurman Law mandated the arrest of the perpetrator in all cases of domestic violence, regardless of whether the victim wished to press charges. In 1989, “A Cry for Help: The Tracey Thurman Story,” a film based on Tracy Thurman’s life, was released. Charles Motuzick, the son of Charles Thurman, has been arrested for first-degree theft and drug possession. For the possession charge, Motuzick was sentenced to seven years in jail in 2010.
