How Tall Are Deer?

According to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, the shoulder height of an adult white-tailed deer is between 36 and 42 inches. The average length of an adult is 72 inches, and males and females weigh 203 and 155 pounds, respectively.

With the exception of regions of the western and southwestern United States, the species is distributed throughout the majority of North America. The white underside of the deer’s tail, which it displays when it feels danger, gives the animal its name. These herbivores can evade predators by racing up to 30 miles per hour and jumping as high as 10 feet in a single bound.
