More women than men wear eyeglasses; almost fifty percent of women versus forty-two percent of males. 85 percent of the total population wears sunglasses. Vision issues associated with nearsightedness are more prevalent among younger individuals, whereas farsighted vision issues are more prevalent among the elderly. At least a mild astigmatism affects one-third of persons who use glasses.
