One of the most well-liked sports in the entire globe is soccer, or football as it is called outside of the United States. It is played by people of all ages in almost every nation on earth. Soccer players frequently call their field a “pitch.”
The size of a soccer field varies depending on the level and age of the players as well as the location of the field. An adult soccer field is typically 81,000 square feet, or 1.86 acres, in size.
Soccer fields for youth and students, sizes
The size of youth soccer fields varies depending on the age of the players. Fields for children aged 7 and 8 range in size from 5,400 to 13,500 square feet, or 0.1 to 0.31 acres. Children aged nine and ten play on fields that are between 13,500 and 21,600 square feet, or 0.31 and 0.5 acres, in size.
High school kids often play on fields that are 49,500 to 86,400 square feet, or 1.14 to 1.98 acres, in size. College soccer fields must be between 72,450 and 81,000 square feet, or 1.66 and 1.98 acres, according to the NCAA.

The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), the body that oversees international soccer, has established a standard range for soccer field sizes of 69,300-86,400 square feet, or 1.59-1.98 acres. The range of field sizes for events like the World Cup is as follows. Their ideal playing area is 76,590 square feet, or 1.77 acres.
There is no established standard for field sizes for Major Competition Soccer (MLS), America’s professional soccer league. Even yet, the Major League Soccer (MLS) does require that its soccer fields be no less than 69,300 square feet, or 1.59 acres.

A Quick Overview of Soccer Field Dimensions
Let’s make some comparisons to see how soccer fields built to FIFA standards compare to other big areas. A typical private airport hangar is around 38,000 square feet, or 0.87 acres. It could easily fit inside the 1.59-acre minimum FIFA soccer field.
An American football field, which is 57,600 square feet (or 1.32 acres), would also be dwarfed by a minimum FIFA soccer field. At 90,000 square feet, or 2.07 acres, an average professional baseball field is slightly bigger than even the largest FIFA soccer pitches.
A Soccer History
Around 2,000 years ago, in China, the sport we now refer to as soccer first appeared. Similar sports have their roots in ancient Greece, Rome, and pre-Columbian America, but the Chinese game is the one that is most similar to the present game. Inside a wall of Scotland’s Stirling Castle, archaeologists discovered the oldest soccer ball ever discovered. They dated it to the fifteenth century.
The sport’s rules, which date to the end of the 19th century, were refined by the English and Scots into what they are in general today. Scotland hosted the first professional soccer clubs in 1824, and they spread throughout Europe and the rest of the world. According to FIFA, 240 million people worldwide currently play soccer.
playing soccer in the US
Contrary to popular belief, soccer has a longer history in the United States. The colonists at Jamestown are known to have participated in an early version of the sport, while Harvard had intramural soccer games as early as 1827. After the Civil War, soccer became more and more popular, and several Ivy League universities fielded teams. Professional teams began to play a combination of rugby and soccer in the 1870s.
FIFA initially refused to let the American men’s team join its ranks in 1912 but changed its mind a year later. Professional men’s leagues that featured a pure form of the game began to appear in the 1920s, and in 1930, the United States fielded its first men’s World Cup team. The United States’ first World Cup was held on the men’s side in 1994, and Major League Soccer (MLS) debuted a few years later in 1996.
The National Women’s Soccer League is where women’s soccer players now compete in the United States (NWSL). Women’s Professional Soccer (2007-2012) and Women’s United Soccer Association preceded the NWSL, which was founded in 2012. (2001-2003). In addition, the U.S. Women’s National Team (USWNT) has won eight CONCACAF Gold Cups, four Olympic gold medals, and four FIFA World Cups to establish itself as the most successful international women’s soccer team.
