Customers can register their Sync My Ride account by visiting the website of Ford Motor Company, selecting the Manage option for Sync My Ride, and clicking on Log In or Register. The registration page opens when the consumer is asked if his vehicle is a Lincoln or Ford.
As of 2015, three distinct versions of Sync are available, depending on the vehicle’s type and model year. Sync basic system and Sync with MyFord, Sync voice-activated navigation, and Sync with MyFord Touch are the three systems.
Customers can determine their version of Sync based on the display. The central display of Sync displays basic information including music title, caller ID, digital time, and temperature. The colour navigation screen for Sync with voice-activated navigation is positioned in the centre console and displays 3-D landmarks and maps. Sync with MyFord Touch features an 8-inch, colour, interactive touch screen in the centre console.
Customers can identify themselves based on distinguishing characteristics. Basic SYNC includes hands-free calling, voice control of the owner’s media player, Sync AppLink, and either a 4.2-inch colour cluster display or a two-line horizontal display. Sync with voice-activated navigation includes the same features as the standard, plus voice-activated navigation, a colour navigation screen, the ability to watch DVDs on the centre display, a 10-gigabyte jukebox, and HD Radio. MyFord touch has an 8-inch colour touchscreen, a media hub, two USB ports, and five-way steering wheel controls.
