Freezing Celery

It’s much simpler to chop them up in large amounts, and having them cut up for recipes later is really convenient.

Before the frost, I had leftover celery stalks and onions from my garden.

Step 1: Celery should be washed. Thoroughly clean the sink, then fill it with cold water and 1 tablespoon white vinegar, and soak the celery for a few minutes.

Step 2: Celery and leaves should be cut into tiny pieces.

Step 3: For 3 minutes, wash out the celery.

Step 4: Allow the celery to cool.

Step 5:  Drain and wrap the celery when it has cooled.

Step 6:  Put it in the freezer for a while.

Place individual celery portions in ziploc bags. If you really wanted to be a perfectionist, you could dry the celery to avoid ice crystals.

Label each snack-size ziploc bag and place it in a gallon freezer bag. It’s that simple!

Follow the same instructions for onions

Note: I didn’t use individual bags for the onions since they were hurting my eyes so badly, so I stuffed them all into one huge bag.

Because onions are more flexible, I can break off what I need. I wouldn’t do this with the celery; it has to be separated into different bags.
